Tesco, Volkswagen and Pod Point join forces to provide electric chargers in car parks

Evening Standard reports on how AQLI findings give ground for Tesco and Volkswagen's newest electric chargers

Retail giant Tesco has partnered with Volkswagen to put more than 2,400 electric chargers in its car parks.

The chargers, powered by Pod Point, will come in sizes of 7kW and 50kW – the latter providing a ‘rapid’ charge for a higher rate.

Over the next three years, the chargers will be installed in 600 Tesco stores, including superstores and convenience stores.

A recent study from the University of Chicago found burning fossil fuels was the main cause of air pollution around the world.

It also concluded that air pollution was the greatest threat to human health globally – with the average human losing two years of life expectancy due to dirty air.
