Only seven countries met WHO air quality standards in 2024, data shows
Only seven countries met World Health Organization (WHO) air quality standards last year, data showed on Tuesday, as researchers warned that the war on smog would only get harder after the United States shut down its global monitoring efforts. "(It) is a giant blow to air quality efforts worldwide," said EPIC Clean Air Program Director Christa Hasenkopf.

Air pollution kills 102,456 Bangladeshis every year
Air pollution is responsible for 102,456 deaths annually in Bangladesh, as per a new study by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA). The Daily Star cites the 2024 AQLI, which shows air pollution has reduced global life expectancy by 2.7 years, while in Bangladesh, it has decreased by 4.8 years.
